According to a study by BizRate Research, 60% of women were already planning their online buying in September, compared to only 42% of men. Women are also reported to carry the burden of Christmas shopping with 55% taking on the responsibility, compared to only 45% of men. However, as more and more retailers go online, women can exploit the internet by saving themselves time, money and effort.
There are many advantages to shopping online:
* You have more choice
* Prices tend to be lower
* It's scientifically proven to be less stressful!
Choice:
Even if you live in a big city, you'd have to be prepared to shop in multiple districts to get the same choice that you would have online. Most high street retailers now have a presence on the internet in any case and you may find that the website could offer more choice than your local store. In addition to big brand names, there are also lots of specialist sites on the internet – which only have an online presence. Such online specialists include CCL – a computer system and accessory specialist, Justtoys -with toys for kids and "big kids" and ChristmasHamper.com or Highland Fayre which specialise in luxury food and drink hampers.
Lower prices:
Many websites offer minimal delivery charges and because they don't have the same costs as a bricks and mortar business, their prices to the consumer are often lower. Most transactions on the internet start with a search engine, but this is not the only method of research that you can do for your Christmas shopping. Perhaps you have heard of price comparison sites which exist for very specific markets such as personal finance like moneynet.co.uk or for more general shopping services (Kelkoo, Ciao ). These sites act as mini search engines and they will collect data from a range of services – showing the results of products with the lowest prices.
Internet shopping is healthier
Internetretailer.com reported in 2003 that when twin sisters were asked to conduct Christmas shopping - one online, one offline, the sister who did her shopping on the internet fared much better. The sister who shopped on the high street took four hours to complete her shopping trip. At the start of the shopping expedition, this sister had a heart rate of 67 which rose to 138 whilst shopping and was still 79 when she got home – apparently "tired and cold, with sore feet".
On the other hand, her twin sister who had done her Christmas shopping online – took only 36 minutes to do her purchasing – and that was without broadband! Her initial heart rate was 66 and didn't rise above 67. Instead of dragging the kids around the shops, this twin was able to have them on her lap, and all the shopping was delivered direct to the home.
And if you want some assistance in the New Year to lose those few extra pounds, there's always online help for losing weight. The high profile website theleanteam.co.uk, as featured on Channel 4, provides useful health advice and if that still isn't enough to tempt you online for Christmas – take a look at Disco Dancing Santa -

Most of you may have heard about Adsense and the income it generates. However, most people don't know how these thing work or how to make it work properly. Firstly, here is an explanation of what is Adsense all about.
An Adsense is a program designed by one of the most popular search engines, Google, to create income for your website. It is very much like an affiliate program that is delivered by Google on where you will display a text or image links where people visiting your website can click on.
You will make money in Adsense programs when people visiting your website clicks on the adsense program. Every click made by visitors in your website is equal to a specific amount of money. So, it is very important that you should generate targeted traffic into your website in order to make this work.
You may also place a Google search box in your website where your visitor can search for relevant text ads and will be displayed on your website. Another feature in the Google Adsense program is the Adsense referrals. Here, you can make money by displaying Google's referral buttons in your website.
Application in Google Adsense is very easy. You just have to fill out an application form found in their website. Adsense is available for any websites except on pornographic websites and hate websites. Your contents should have a specific topic where Google Adsense will choose an adsense program related to the contents of your website.
All you need to apply is to have your own website.
Make sure that your website does not have any pornographic content, racism, or any other content that may offend some people. Joining in an Adsense program is fast, easy and most of all free.
Why join an Adsense program? The answer to this question is obvious: To make money at home. Adsense programs are free and relatively easy to join in one. You may think that having an Adsense program displayed in your website can lead people away. However, if you have a good content and an attractive website, you will be sure that those people will always come back and read more of your topics.
One great type of website for an adsense is a blogging website. A blogging website can generate you a lot of targeted traffic and also a lot of clicks in the Adsense program.
The placement of your Adsense program is also very important to generate clicks. Usually, you can place your Adsense program anywhere in your website. However, there is a specific placement to generate more clicks. For example, it has been found that placing your Adsense program at the top of the web page generates more clicks than that of web pages that places Adsense programs below their web page. Another way to generate clicks is to place your Adsense program near rich content areas. This is because people focus more in these areas and tends to click on them more.
An Adsense program can give you a lot of income opportunities if you do it right. Try to make your website score a high rank in order to qualify in Adsense programs. Adsense programs are also one of the easiest ways to generate extra cash. You just have to update your website from time to time in order to keep on creating more targeted traffic. Try to consider making a blog website, these types of website creates huge amount of targeted traffic and can virtually take care of itself.

Coping As A Work-At-Home Parent

Article Body:
Unless you are independently wealthy or have a very successful spouse then every parent must face an important decision -- whether to work outside the home or to work from home.
Many people choose the traditional option of working outside the homeand find themselves spending far too much time away from their children as well as trying to juggle daycare and health issues while still trying to get ahead in their chosen profession.
Other parents choose the less traditional path of working from home. While they are not subject to problems with daycare or a child's illness, they do struggle with a different sort of problem balancing home and work time.
Any parent who has attempted to focus on a task while also taking care of children knows how challenging it can be. For many work from home parents that challenge is a part of their every day life.
So how do work from home parents find the right balance that allows them to be productive workers while also being good primary caregivers?
The first thing you need to do is work out a priority list for the tasks you want to accomplish for the week. It is better to plan conservatively for a week because sometimes unexpected events can derail a day here and there in even the best run homes.
Now go back over the list and highlight the items that need your full concentration. For example, something you cannot do while reassembling a transformer.
Your next step will be working out two schedules. The first will cover your child's day. I don't mean that you need to plan out every minute but perhaps give a general outline in half hour chunks. Try to strike a balance between activities that involve high-level parenting and low-level parenting.
For example, when my son first wakes up he isn't hungry and he doesn't really want much from me. He is content to watch a little TV as he fully wakes up. This is a time of low-level parenting as I am nearby but as he doesn't require much from me then I am free to work.
After he is fully awake we switch into high-parenting mode. He wants to be fed and he is ready to play. At this point I usually spend time interacting with him, perhaps helping him set up art supplies or designing his train set.
Once he is fully engaged in his activity I then have a small window of time to focus on my own projects. He is well able to entertain himself but likes to share his games and art projects with me so while I can work I certainly cannot get anything done that requires a high level of concentration.
Then it is time for high-level parenting again as we prepare lunch and then spend some time reading. When my son was younger this would then lead to a nap and I could have an hour or two of prime work time. However now he rarely naps. For a while we struggled with this newly opened slot but I decided he really needed some down time, we needed a little time apart, and I needed time to get some serious work done. Our new plan involves him spending a quiet hour in his room. I put in a CD (preferably one at least 60 minutes long) and he can entertain himself quietly as he chooses within his room. He can read or play but he must be quiet. Some days he does end up taking a nap and other days we just enjoy a little break from each other.
After this break I switch back into high-level parenting mode again. We will play a game, go for a walk, or visit the park. In the summer this is the time we go to the community pool. My son understands that this time is his reward for letting me get some work done earlier in the day and this is my way of letting him know that he is important to me.
Some evenings I will get some more time to work after we've had some family time. My husband will spend some one-on-one time with our son and take care of bath and other bedtime preparations. Usually I'm done in time to take care of the tuck-in and bedtime story.
On the weekends my husband will usually arrange several hours on either Saturday or Sunday when he is primarily responsible for child care so I can also get some work done.
In this way I manage to operate a profitable internet business while also serving as the primary caregiver for my preschool son. I do not work the equivalent of a 40-hour work week but concentrating on accomplishing small tasks throughout the day I manage to meet all my priorities and then some.
I want to also share a few additional tips about balancing your work and your family at home.
~ Teach your child to be independent. My son can dress himself and even prepare his own snacks. He may not be wearing the clothes I would have chosen but then he did save me time and who else will see him wearing that odd ensemble? I make fruit, water bottles, juice boxes, cheese, and crackers easily available to him so when he is hungry he can serve himself (although he may bring me a juice box to insert the straw or a package to open). I don't worry about what he is eating and he knows the rules about crumbs and messes. My office is adjacent to the kitchen so I can observe and intervene if necessary.
~ Teach your child to be responsible. Put your child in charge of picking up their toys and putting them away. Not only will this make your life easier later when you need to take care of household chores but it can buy you some time to get work done.
~ Set up a play date. I have learned that play dates are a win-win for me as a work-at-home parent. It is actually easier to keep two four-year-olds entertained as they tend to entertain each other and when it is time to reciprocate I get hours of free time to concentrate on my work.
~ Check out community activities. Does your library offer a story hour for children? This offers me the opportunity to do some research in the library, make notes for upcoming projects, or even log onto the internet. My son loves visiting the library and we usually go one other day of the week and he will play, work on puzzles, and look at books while I can get some work done nearby. Similarly I can take my laptop or a notebook to the park while he plays on the playground. I've even learned to get work done at the local McDonald's playland.
Finally, you and your family will need to learn patience and understanding. You need to understand that your work will have to get accomplished in small chunks. Your child needs to learn that while he or she is your top priority that doesn't mean their sudden need for juice takes precedence over all else. Your entire family needs to learn that housework comes third on the list of priorities and that if the whole family contributed to the mess then the whole family can contribute to the cleanup.

Thinking about a home business? Suddenly you're immersed in a whole new language: affiliate programs, residual income, leveraged income, pyramid scams, html, gateway websites. It's really not all that difficult and a mentor can be a trusted guide through the home business labyrinth.
There are only three main ways to work for yourself: sell your own product or service and keep all the profits; buy the rights to sell someone else's product and keep all the profits; and sell someone else's products and keep a commission. This article is all about the third way, which is affiliate marketing.
Residual income is income that keeps coming in month after month, year after year, from work you do just one time. You sell a membership or a customer places a standing order for monthly shipment of a product and you receive a commission every month thereafter. Leveraged income is earning money through other people's efforts. We choose to be affiliates because when we sign someone up under us to sell, we profit from their sales too.
There are many reasons why you may be interested in starting your own affiliate home business. Are you having difficulty finding a job? Are you afraid of being laid off? Are you worried about your retirement savings? Do you want to stay home to care for a loved one? Do you wish you could say goodbye to your boss forever?
Whatever the reason, and whatever your financial situation, a mentor can help you build an online income over time. It won't happen overnight and it will take hard work.
How do you know if being your own boss and working on the internet is for you? How do you choose what kind of business to start?
A mentor can help you decide if an internet home business is for you. If you're new to computers and the internet, he or she can suggest some great resources for learning the basics.
How do you choose what affiliate programs to join? A good mentor only recommends products she uses herself and programs she uses. I made my choices based on products in which I have personal interest, the programs' track records, and recommendations from entrepreneurs I respect. Careful research is the key.
Once you have signed up for affiliate programs, you may want to start out simply promoting the affiliate gateway websites you are given within each program. Gateway websites are personalized websites given to you by an affiliate program. They are the same for every affiliate and you are not able to change them in any way. They include code that attributes all sales to you and they allow for your contact information to be included. A mentor will show you how to promote these websites. Directing visitors to them is how you make your sales and how you enroll others.
Eventually, you will want your own domain name and website. I unequivocally recommend Kiosk.ws as a web host. You can start out for as little as $1, and Kiosk has support that sets the industry standard. There are conference room trainings and meet-the-president sessions, online help desk, and of course your referrer. Your membership includes too many business tools to mention here, but it's everything you need to conduct business online. Plus Kiosk can eventually be a good moneymaker in itself.
Once you are the proud owner of your own website, you can add your own product pages, articles, testimonials...you're only limited by your imagination. A mentor can set you in the right direction and get your business profitable sooner than you might believe possible.

Research reveals three important facts:
1) The Internet is one of the most important sources of information.
2) The trustworthiness of the Internet is declining.
3) Customers will come back to your site if they trust it.
In the face of a declining trust in the Internet, there's definitely value in creating a website which can be trusted by your visitors. But how do you do it? That's what this article is all about.
But first, the research…
According to a recent major study, "Ten Years, Ten Trends", conducted by the Center for the Digital Future a leading authority on the impact of the Internet, the Internet is still seen as one of the most important sources of information, but people are placing less faith in the reliability of that information.
These findings are supported by earlier research. American Express found that 73% of people use the Internet to gather information, and Lyra Research found that 48% of people use the Internet to find work-related information as opposed to 7% who use magazines. When it comes to reliability of information, A.T. Kearney found that workers take so long trying to find information that it costs organisations $750 billion annually!
But never fear! All is not lost. It is possible to stem the tide – at least as far as your own website is concerned. According to Nielsen NetRatings, helpful website content develops site loyalty. The average person visits no more than 19 websites in the entire month in order to avoid information overload – they tend to rely on the sites that they can trust to help them.
So how do you make yours one of those sites? How do you inspire trust in your visitors?
The answer is simple – make your website copy trustworthy!
Following are 8 steps that'll put you on the road to a trustworthy website.
STEP 1 - Always include your contact details
Always! This includes an email address, phone numbers, fax numbers, and address. Without these details, you'll look like a fly-by-night operation.
STEP 2 – Tell us who you are
Dedicate a page of copy to the people who run your company. You don't need to say much – just provide a little history. Talk about their work history, career highlights, education and qualifications, etc. And it never hurts to include a little personal information as well. Let your readers know who you are.
STEP 3 – Know it & Show it
It's not enough that you know what you're talking about. Your readers have to know you know it! This normally means including a little bit of technical information or some other titbit that potential customers will recognise as expertise. (And always check your facts before publishing. If possible, include statistics or some other form of research results.)
STEP 4 – Include samples & testimonials
Of course, if you're going to talk the talk, you have to be able to walk the walk. Validate your claims by including samples of your previous work (if applicable), and testimonials from some satisfied customers.
STEP 5 – Something for nothing
Nothing inspires trust more than an offer of something for nothing. But you have to make sure that 'something' is helpful. And make it doubly clear that it really is obligation-free. Nothing undermines credibility faster than the suspicion that there's a hidden catch.
STEP 6 – Avoid advertorial style web copy
Don't go on and on, page after page, repeating the same thing using different words. Make your point and make it quickly. Don't insult your visitors' intelligence by implying that they'll believe you if you just say it often enough! If you use advertorial style web copy, you'll seem more interested in yourself than the business solution you're offering your client.
STEP 7 – Avoid hard-sell web copy
Once again, don't insult your visitors' intelligence. Hard-sell web copy can give the impression that you're more interested in the sale than the business solution. Sure, create a sense of urgency with your web copy, but don't overdo it.
STEP 8 – Talk benefits not features
When you talk features, you're talking about your product or service - you're talking about you. When you talk benefits, you're showing that you're interested in what the customer needs. Talking benefits is one of the best ways to engage your customer. (For more information on writing about benefits,
Websites can be a great way to engage your customers and make sales. But you have to make sure your visitors trust what you say. And that means getting your web copy right.
Happy writing!

Article Body:
IIf you want your online business to be successful, it's a good idea to optimize your site on a regular basis to make sure it's got a good position in the Web's top search engines.
However, in order to maintain your ranking, you have to keep on top of what's happening in the rapidly changing search engine industry. The rules that affected your ranking yesterday may be meaningless tomorrow!
1. The "Dos" and "Don'ts" are constantly changing!
The search engine industry is continually evolving. You need to know which of the major "players" is powering the smaller search engines if you want to know where you should focus your optimization efforts.
a. The battle of the titans
For the past couple of years, the major search engines have been preparing to square off against each other and battle it out for the industry's top spot. Google has been #1 for a while now, but Yahoo! and MSN have been making moves to steal the crown.
Google is still extremely powerful, with about a 55% market share. Yahoo! is the closest runner-up, with about 20% of users choosing it as their main search engine. And MSN is still a distant but threatening third, with about 10% of the global usage share.
Keep in mind, however, that Google and Yahoo! power many of the smaller search engines. For example, Google powers the free listings featured on AOL and Netscape, plus the paid listings featured on AOL, Netscape, Ask Jeeves, HotBot, Teoma, and Lycos.
Yahoo! powers free listings featured on MSN, AltaVista, AllTheWeb, and HotBot, plus the paid listings on MSN, AltaVista, and AllTheWeb.
However, MSN won't be powered by Yahoo! for much longer! MSN came out with a preview of their own long-anticipated search engine technology earlier this month. They're still working out the bugs, and the official MSN Search engine is still being powered by Yahoo!. But you can expect MSN to go solo sometime over the next few months.
You need to be aware of these changes if you want to gear your optimization efforts toward the engines that will send you as much traffic as possible.
b. The changing rules of search
Of course, you also need to keep tabs on changes to the search engines themselves!
Search engines frequently change the algorithms they use to rank sites. They don't want unscrupulous site owners manipulating their indexing methods in order to get high rankings. By doing so, they damage the integrity of free search!
As soon as the search engines become aware of a trick being used by "search engine spammers" to boost their site ranking, they figure out a way to catch them.
So be careful! You don't want to catch yourself employing a "great strategy" promoted by a marketing "expert," only to find out it's a tactic the search engines hate! That could get you booted off their listings in no time flat.
In fact, that's exactly what happened at the end of last year, during what has come to be called the "Florida Google Dance."
Google made some major changes to their algorithms in November 2003 and started imposing an "over-optimization penalty" on any sites that appeared to be artificially boosting their site's relevancy for targeted keywords.
Many members of the business community were surprised to find their sites dropped from their high ranking in Google's listings. These people had to put a lot of work into revamping and resubmitting their sites in order to get listed again.
And many of the people who were penalized weren't "unscrupulous" site owners! They weren't trying to pull a "fast one" on search engines using frowned-upon techniques such as "keyword stuffing." They were simply trying to be smart marketers -- and some feel they were unfairly punished for it.
You don't want the same thing to happen to you!
So let's have a look at a list of what exactly the search engines are currently looking for when indexing sites -- and what they'll punish you for!
2. The "Dos": Legitimate tricks the SEO masters use to optimize their sites and maintain their high ranking
The search engines don't want to be manipulated by marketers. They want to provide the best unbiased results possible for any given search -- or they'll lose users!
That's why they need to change their algorithms so frequently -- to stay ahead of the tricks people use to get top rankings.
That being said, there are still a lot of legitimate ways you can optimize your site without angering the search engines and causing them to drop you from their list.
Here are some of the best things you can to do ensure your site has a high ranking:
a. Ask relevant sites to link to your site
In the past, scoring a high ranking with a search engine was all about positioning your keywords in "prime real estate" positions in your text and site coding. All that has changed, however. These days, links are king!
Search engines place a huge amount of importance on the number of sites that link to yours. But it's not just the quantity of links that matter, it's also the quality. Search engines look at how relevant the links are -- i.e., how much the content of the linking site has in common with the content on your site. The more relevant, the better!
Search engines also look at how "important" the linking site is. What kind of "online presence" does it have? How much traffic does it get?
For example, your site will get a higher ranking if it's linked to by sites such as BBC.com or nationalgeographic.com instead of, say, the personal homepage of your friend's neighbour's kid.
b. Pay attention to keyword inclusion and placement
Keywords may no longer be the sole determining factor of a site's ranking, but they're still pretty important. The most useful places to include them are:
In your domain name -- only make sure your keywords are in the root of your URL, not the stem! For example, if your main keyword phrase is "cell phones," try to get a domain name such as Some search engines will actually penalize sites for including key words in the stem of a URL.
In the title tags in your source code
In the meta description of your site -- this is much less important than it used to be, but it can't hurt.
In your meta keyword tags HOWEVER: Be sure you only include relevant keywords! Search engines will penalize you if you try to sneak in keywords that have nothing to do with the content of your site.
c. Create content-rich "information pages" to direct traffic to your site
An easy way to boost the number of pages that link to your site is to create some pages yourself!
However, you have to make sure these pages contain valuable contents that provide people with useful information. Search engines hate "pointer pages" that have no content and exist only to add to the number of links pointing to a site.
Be sure the information relates to the content on your site and has your keywords placed in advantageous positions. This will boost the ranking of your pages with the search engines and ensure they get lots of traffic -- which they can then redirect to your site.
d. Submit your site to online directories
Be sure to submit your site to important directories such as Yahoo!, the Open Directory Project, and About.com, as well as smaller directories. Your listing on these directories will help your ranking with the major search engines.
e. Multiply and conquer!
Create a "community" of related sites that link to each other. Why stop at only one information page? The more content-rich sites that point to your site, the better!
You can also boost the number of links that point to your site by dividing it into several separate sites that all link to each other. This works especially well if you sell a number of different products or services.
If you build a different site to focus on each of your products and services, then you can also concentrate the use of specific keyword phrases on each site. That's another great way to boost your search engine ranking.
3. The "Don'ts": Tricks the search engines hate and why you should never use them, even if your competition does
Now that we've covered the "dos," here come the "don'ts." Although these questionable tactics have worked well in the past, the search engines absolutely hate them. If they catch you using any of these tricks, they may go so far as to drop you from their listings like a hot potato!
a. Beware irrelevant links! Yes, it's a good idea to get a lot of different links pointing to your site, but the search engines only like RELEVANT links. If they find sites that have nothing in common with the content on your site linked to your web site, they'll lower your relevancy rating.
b. Beware irrelevant keywords! Search engines hate finding irrelevant keywords on your site -- especially in your meta tags. If they catch you using keywords that have nothing to do with the actual content of your site, they'll penalize you for it.
c. Don't "keyword stuff" your meta tags! In the past, people used to repeat their keywords in their meta tags over and over again. This used to get them a high ranking with the search engines -- but not any more! Search engines are on to this trick and will punish you for it by dropping your ranking.
d. Don't create "link farms"! "Link farms" are the evil cousins of the "information pages" we discussed above.
In the past, some spammers used to build multiple "doorway" sites that existed only to multiply the number of links pointing to their sites.
Unlike content-rich information pages, these doorway pages would usually only include a string of keyword terms that would earn them a high ranking with the search engines.
The search engines have caught on to this tactic, however, and will drop you from their listings if they find you using it.
e. Avoid "free for all" link pages! Don't bother placing links to your site on pages where everyone and their dog is invited to put up a link. Such sites have extremely low relevancy ratings and will cost you points with the search engines.
4. Essential tools and resources to optimize your site and stay in top of the search engine game
There are a lot of great tools out there that can help you optimize your web site while ensuring that you stay on the good side of all the search engines.

1. Get the attention through clear marketing messages – Your website should have a clear message about your products or business. Show your visitors the benefits they get if they choose your product or business. Make sure that you define your marketing messages clearly for all your critical audiences.
2. Make your visitors feel comfortable – Make sure that your visitors will feel comfortable on your website. Use nice and creative graphics with your content. Use your main business address on your contact page and not P.O. Boxes since it won't make your business look very dependable. You should also have your phone number located on all of your pages on a visible spot. Your answering message should have the name of your business recorded on it. You are a professional right? Remember to always have your e-mail, phone number, or contact form easily accessible from all pages of your website so your visitors don't have to struggle to get in touch with you. Another good idea is to provide FAQ page to give your visitors the extra confidence to buy without having to contact you.
3. Create a newsletter – Provide your visitors with a newsletter that they can easily subscribe to. This is your marketing tool that doesn't cost you anything. It is something catchy that will grab their attention and make them want to sign up.
4. Include your specials – Make sure that you give your visitors good reasons to buy from you. When you tell your potential customer who's just looking around that you will give them the best deal in town, and to call you back before they buy. I can guarantee that if you handled the communication good they will call you back before they make a buying decision. What you say to them will always be in the back of their mind. Now don't think that you need to beat the price that they bring back to you. You can always include something extra special to the mix.
5. Keeping in touch with existing customers – Remember that your existing customer is more likely to buy from you again, or refer you to someone, than someone you find who in only interested in your product or business at the time. Remind your customers by phone, e-mail, or postcards about your website or business and let them know about the updates or specials that you have.
6. Create an online marketing campaign – Set some time aside every once in a while and keep looking for ways to promote your website. Establish new linking partners that will advertise your website on theirs. Write interesting and resourceful articles that can help other website owners to provide for their visitors. Establish your monthly budget and invest it in search engine marketing or good business related websites that will bring you quality visitors.
7. Improve you website graphics - Try to stay away from clip art images or something out of style because it won't have much effect. Make your graphics unique and come up with nice and catchy advertising tag lines. If you need help, hire an agency that will help you come up with the appropriate marketing messages and design eye catching advertising pieces that will seize your visitors' attention.
8. Perform a regular competitor and customer research – Continue doing research on your competitors and customers. Try to keep your website updated and competitive. After all, the website is your best educated and most knowledgeable salesman that works 24/7.
9. Customer is always right – Your customer is always right, even if they are not. It is important to acknowledge the comments or concerns your customers may have. This will allow you to improve your website in order to make future customers completely satisfied. After you have changes made, jump right back into selling again.
10. Choose a reliable web hosting - Don't settle for less or judge the hosting by price. You need your website to be available to the world all day everyday. Please note that there is no such thing as "unlimited bandwidth" in web hosting. Any good network engineer or technician can explain why that is.
These 10 tips will help you understand how to increase your online sales. To finalize this article I just want to add two more very important things. Please do not put your picture on the home page. Your navigation of the website should be easy to follow and fool-proof. Don't complicate things by providing too many options for the customers that will just get them lost. Now go sell.

Submit Articles Here There and Everywhere - Boom! Top Of The Search Engines.
Word Count:
774
Summary:
Is it true that submitting your articles to directories and ezine publishers or using a article submission service will get you to the top of the search engines? I say maybe and here's why...
Keywords:
submit articles,article submission service,article marketing,article service,article writing
Article Body:
While it is true that submitting articles can create massive amounts of traffic to your site there are a few key things to be considered. Unless of course your a lone ranger marketing in a niche without any competition, if so, this article is not for you. Simply a few backlinks with choice keywords aimed at your niche without any competitors pages and your flying high on page one of the top 3 search engines. Actually, now that I think about it while proofing this article - if that is you, please contact me as I'd like to know which niche your in. (:--)
Well that's a nice thought for a perfect world where everyone get's their own niche and every page of your site fills the first 3 pages of a Google search, but for the rest of us in larger markets the competition can be very fierce.
I'm not sure about you but I think many people blindly submit articles to article directories and ezine publishers without consideration for the keywords their targeting using their anchor text in their resource box or throughout the article. Most of us by now know that backlinks built up to our sites, steadily and progressively over time will cause us to rise, rise, rise in the serp's (search engine results pages).
There are SEO forums filled to overflowing on proper choice of keywords. I've not spent much time studying all the latest tips and tricks but while learning online marketing over this past year I've certainly picked up alot of knowledge of what works and what doesn't on the net.
Okay, enough of an intro - if your targeting a large market like say - "internet marketing" for example - just know that according to Google your up against 278 million pages that are also targeting this keyword. While a quick search in Overtures database reveals over 302 thousand searches in January of 2006 alone - this may be a market to be in some would quickly assume - well, maybe if your willing to wait a long time or have a 100,000 dollars in your bank account to captivate nearly every form of online promotion along with an expensive article submission service.
Of course with a little keyword research you could weed out about 98% of that competition. Let's dive right in and see what's possible.
I'm going to use my favorite keyword research tool, which I'm very enthusiastic about btw, email me if you need the best free one available, I'm going to look and see if I can find an easier keyword even in this large market. Hold tight, I'll be right back.
Okay, I'm back, why not target your articles and sites around the keyword of "idea making money" , it's regularily searched, over 8,000 times in January of 2006 but only has 9540 competing pages. In fact, I'm quite impressed by this keyword and I just might target it myself unless you beat me too it. Anyway, by targeting your articles, web pages and backlink anchor text keywords to this lesser competitive term you'll drastically shorten the time it takes to get to page 1 of the top 3 engines. Although the payout in the end won't be as large due to less traffic you will be handsomely rewarded if you do this 10 or 15 times over on different keywords, to do this just add more pages to your site - you'll need lot's anyway! By using keywords that have a realistic page 1-3 serp reach, you could see page one within only days or weeks rather than months or years. I also have a really impressive and fast site builder too if your in need. Again, email me if interested so I don't have to advertise an affiliate program in this article, which is another no no I hear. (:--)
In closing, some other quick tips not to forget - use your keyword once in the title of your article if it sounds realistic and not stupid! My suggested keyword above will need some creativity to flow well in sentences. Add your keyword a couple times throughout a 5-700 word article and once in your resource box should easily be enough. Just don't over do it and since the engines are more and more shooting for quality non-duplicated content your going to have to be submitting articles that are in english for long term reliability(:--).
Also, regarding the web page your targeting, use your keyword(s) once in the page title, once in your page headers, in at least one of the alt tags of your pictures and around 0.5 - 2 % of your pages total words. I've found this makes a difference when the spiders come crawling your pages.
All the best to you my fellow article submitters!

One of the best ways to drive traffic to your website is by writing articles. Getting your own articles written, distributed and published on the Internet is one of the very best Internet marketing techniques in existence.
Once you have become an author of an article, you become an instant authority. When visitors locate and read your article they could obtain some useful information from it. They would most probably appreciate you. When appreciation turns into trust, it is very likely that would click the link in your article resource box to visit your website to get more information.
Chances of them signing up with you in one of your recommended business opportunities or buy one of your recommended products would be greatly enhanced.
The question is how to write the relevant articles which might demand some of your effort and time?
If you are good in writing and enjoy doing it, you might decide to write your own articles. Otherwise you could join an article cooperative to get access to private label articles OR hire someone to write articles for you.
Let's discuss the differences of these 3 possibilities:
1) Do Your Own Research and Write Your Own Articles.
The main advantage of writing your own articles is that it's "free" and it would give you a sense of pride in accomplishment. You might enjoy writing articles to share your experience in Internet online business. The downside is that it'd take up some of your time to conduct some research work.
2) Join An Article Cooperative to Get Pre-written Articles.
A recommended article cooperative is InfoGoRound where you could get hundreds of pre-written articles for a small enrollment fee. From these you could choose those discussing subjects related to the content of your website. These are referred to as the "Private label articles" which you have full permission to use and also add your own name and article resource box to the article as the author.
3) Hire Someone to Write Articles For You.
If you are not comfortable writing your own articles or if you find it too much a hassle especially when you're new to this business or if you do not fancy pre-written articles due to lack of originality, you could use an article ghost writing service such as Just Articles to put your own ideas into writing.
For a relatively small fee you can get your articles written very quickly.
For article marketing on the Internet, articles written with between 400-700 words would suffice. It goes without saying that your articles must be relevant to your Internet business. Hence topic of your articles should be related to: "working at home", "home based business", "Internet marketing", "making money online", "promoting a website", etc.
The next question is how can you ensure that your articles will reach the maximum amount of potential web visitors?
Below are some routes you can use:
1) Submit to Article Directories
The best place to submit your articles are Article Directories. Many publishers of websites, blogs, and ezines visit the sites of these Directories. Hence your articles will be quickly exposed to people who have a large amount of traffic.
2) Submit to Article Lists/Newsletters
The next step is to submit your articles to article lists such as newsletters on Yahoo and Topica. Articles from such sources are normally better received by publishers. Hence when a submission is done by you via an article list, publishers have more confidence in your articles and would very likely use them.
3) Approach Individual Related Websites
Many Websites focus on providing valuable information and educational materials to their readers. You could submit your articles to these sites if your articles are relevant to what they need. It is best that you only contact sites where the readers would have an interest in the topic of your article.
4) Search Through Ezine Directories
Once your articles have been submitted to directories and article lists as mentioned earlier, you could start contacting individual publishers such as the publishers of ezines that are related to your topic. Choose those who accept articles and write to them and convince them that your articles would be of value for their purpose.
5) Give The Articles to Your New Affiliate members
To help your affiliates especially the newly "recruited" ones, you could give them your articles as a way to help promote your site. They could either publish them as they are or they could substitute your link with theirs in the resource box of the article. They would be impressed by such generous gesture from you.
In conclusion, submitting your articles and getting them re-published on others' websites and newsletters/ezines is one of the most powerful Internet marketing strategies. Your articles will then start working as a free advertisement for you forever. And you do not have to pay even a dime for such advertising space. You will continue to enjoy free traffic driven to your website for a long, long time!

However, with the increase of spyware and virus attacks, my computer was not always spared and there were times I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. That's when I thought that it was time to try something new – and free.
Installation is very easy. Just download the software from the Avast website, free of charge. The only catch – if you can consider it that – is that it is for personal, non-commercial use only. The installation process is mostly automatic. You can choose to register it after installation in order to access free updates for one year. If you do not choose to register it then you can use it for 60 days free. Since the registration is free as well, there is no reason not to do that.
The user interface is simple and easy to use. Some people might not find that it doesn't suit their taste as it looks something like Winamp – it looks fun, not very serious. However, that doesn't take away its functionality. It actually adds to the experience as you can change the skin if you want to.
It gives you the option to run 7 providers. You can choose which ones you want to run. I use the following shields: Instant Messaging, Internet Mail, Network Shield, P2P Shield, Standard Shield, and Web Shield. If you use Outlook then you can opt to use that provider as well. The above-mentioned shields pretty much cover everything you do on your computer, providing extensive protection. The Web Shield is by far the latest impressive addition to this release. It monitors all internet traffic including spyware. It is also compatible with most internet browsers. If you are worried about the effect on speed, your worries are unfounded.
A drawback of this software is that it takes too much time to load up when you first turn your computer on. It may take several minutes. In the meantime, it would be difficult for you to run applications.
I think that is a minor inconvenience you can put up with. For something that is free and works effectively, I wouldn't mind waiting for a couple of minutes.

Want to make more money online in an affiliate marketing programme? Here's some advice from a very smart -- and very successful -- guy who does just that:
"I blog at Entrepreneurs-Journey.com and I make about $2,000 USD a month via affiliate products. Here's my advice if you choose to use a blog as part of your affiliate marketing arsenal."
TIPS FROM AN AFFILIATE MARKETING EXPERT:
- Blog honestly and consistently. When you blog every day and make the content your own words, and helpful, you build up a very powerful relationship between you and your readers. At a certain point your blog gains the credibility of the recommendation of a friend. After that, sales are a piece of cake.
- Don't hesitate to write over and over about the same product in your affiliate marketing programme. You can come at it from different points of view that way... write about what you expect from the product at first, why you bought it, how you hope to use it, and so on. Then you can tell your cyber-friends out there, (the ones whose trust you've gained through your blog), exactly how the product came through for you. You're basically echoing what any purchaser goes through with any product, not regurgitating a lot of recognizable affiliate marketing jargon. Product reviews are highly sought-after and help make sales for you.
- Make sure everything you blog has content the reader can really use, and are not just sales puff pieces.
- For your affiliate marketing plan, you can attract links with blogs much easier than with normal websites, so do remember your slogan: Blog Every Day!
- As you build up content, it will compound the effect of each single blog, and each article will have a synergistic effect on the whole process.
- Save time every day to work on building a list. Once you have a credible, substantial blog and a list to match, you're in the affiliate marketing business!

Trying to become one of the top rated websites on the internet search engines is not an easy task to say the least. With the number of websites currently in operation creeping towards one trillion, there are those that believe that the old strategies for gaining a top rank may be dead, but there are still some things that a person should do if they have any chance of showing up in the search results of any of the top search engines. Thankfully these are anything but difficult and anyone with a small amount of internet related search knowledge can work through the issues. Working with these issues is fairly simple and the main goal is to get listed in the web directories.
Web directories are nothing more then storage facilities for website links and descriptions. That sounds simple enough right? Well what most people fail to realize is the fact that they are much more important then was previously thought, making web directories a top priority for those who are thinking of launching a website. This all stands to reason as web directories are the number one area where search engines and other systems look to produce information for web browsers around the world. The reason behind this is the fact that web directories are known to store and sort all of the links that are placed with them in a fashion that makes searching for the proper results simple. This creates an ease of operation for the search engines who normally use complicated equations in an effort to produce the best results.
Web directories are a completely opt in type deal. Only those who submit their website link and description directly to the web directories are listed and sometimes not even then. There are specific criteria for web directories that must be met before the link will be approved. In most cases this involves properly listing the category where the link will appear and an honest and clear cut mini description. For the most part the web directories of the net are edited only by a computer program that looks for certain markers and reads the keywords as they apply to the site. There are however several new human edited web directories that are in use by the giants of internet searching, like Google and Yahoo. With the human edited web directories there is a lot less chance of error and a better outlook for the search criteria.

1) Reliability
This is not of moment you can fully distinguish by just looking at their website, in consequence you'll have to obtain a works of research. It's always a applicable idea to finish a search about the host to find any reviews from past or current clients. To do this, simply search using Google for keyword phrases using the company name. For example, Rackspace review or EV1Servers review, or you can even take a step further, by reviewing the support forums of the host if they have one. There you can easily find as much information as you need. How does this help with regards to reliability? Simple, it can show how fast they respond to complaints and issues by reviewing what past or current clients have said, and postings in the forums can show how they handle customer feedback.
2) Cost
We are all looking for a value hyped up deal. It's wanted that we influence in style now market price when election a fired server host. Selecting a $29/month server may not be the top option if it's backed with poor support and perhaps your server built with recycled hardware. Take note, this is not saying that cheap dedicated server hosts produce low quality service, but I'm saying that in 8 times out of 10 you do get what you pay for. Do price shopping and take note of each host's price along with their server specs, bandwidth, network, and support guarantees. Review each and then you'll be able to figure, which one is truly the most cost effective. Is it really worth it to have a $29/month server with only 256 MB RAM which may be slow and unresponsive if hit with a spike in traffic? It's going to be up to you to weigh those options.
3) Support
This is toilsome for issues agnate as downtime, ddos attacks and characteristic issues dealing with your server. It is foremost that you express with the help team before purchasing a server. Why? Simply for you yearning to demur their response before investing any funds. If you would rather not send an email or call before making your purchase, if the site you're thinking about has a support forum, you can register and post your technical question there or review the questions asked prior to get a better idea of how solid their support technicians are with regards to answering questions.
4) Longevity
This is usually not listed as a bearing as manifold startup fired server companies are solid, but it's usually a elite risk to lane the twist of cut that a transaction has been in business. You can seal a whois of the host's domain name to see how long a host has been in business. It can be a good indication that they're in for the long haul if they've been around for awhile. This is not to discredit choosing a new company, as many solid server hosts are started regularly who go on to be huge successes. Simply use your best judgment when reviewing if to go with a host that's been around for years instead of one that's now getting started. I should point out here, that in some cases newer hosts will fight harder for your business and give you an overall better support in the beginning in some cases as they really treasure your business. It's really a toss up here, that's where your natural instincts for decision making will have to be the deciding factor.
